The BMW Regensburg plant has approximately 9,000 employees with a daily production of around 1,100 units of the BMW 1 Series, 3 Series (Sedan, Coupé, Convertible and BMW M3 variants including individual and government vehicles and four-wheel variants) as well as the BMW Z4, making it an important part of the worldwide BMW Group production network. In 2012 a total of 300307 cars were built. Since 1986, more than five million vehicles rolled off the assembly line.

Each individual customer's requirement is always fulfilled on time and in accordance with the highest quality standards. In addition to the high flexibility and mastery of the large offer of variants, the high efficiency of the plant becomes particularly apparent in the high level of launch expertise.

Benefits of implementing the EFQM Excellence Model 

  • Plant Regensburg has achieved a high level of production flexibility without entailing excessive costs. 
  • The parameter “labor productivity” describes the hours worked per vehicle and reaches 82% above the target and other benchmarks. 
  • Employee survey shows an overall satisfaction of 99%. Also the trust in leadership achieves the 99%. 
  • Most customer results have positive trends and targets are met in many areas. 
  • The trends of the most important financial business results have improved in the last few years and annual targets have been achieved. 
  • Targets for “carbon free energy supply” and activities behind that (skills, technical developments) have reduced carbon emissions by about 25% from 2006 to 2012.
